Agave ‘Blue Flame’ is a bold, fast-growing architectural agave prized for its broad blue-gray foliage and dramatic, symmetrical form. A hybrid of Agave attenuata and Agave shawii, this variety combines size, elegance, and drought tolerance — making it a standout focal point in desert and contemporary landscapes. Its wide, gracefully arching leaves form a large, open rosette that can reach 4–5 feet tall and wide, creating immediate visual impact. The soft blue-gray coloration intensifies in full sun, adding cool-toned contrast against gravel, stone, and modern hardscape designs. Despite its substantial presence, ‘Blue Flame’ has relatively smooth leaf margins compared to many agaves, making it more landscape-friendly for high-visibility areas. Extremely drought tolerant once established, it thrives in hot, dry climates and performs beautifully in desert, Mediterranean, and waterwise landscapes across California, Nevada, and Arizona.
